Meet Jesse Bootsma from University of Twente

We’re happy to welcome Jesse Bootsma to the REWRITE team!

Jesse has recently joined the project as a postdoctoral researcher, bringing expertise in estuarine dynamics, intertidal vegetation, hydrodynamics and salt intrusion. He recently completed his PhD at the University of Twente, where he explored how these processes shape estuarine environments.

Within REWRITE, Jesse will contribute to WP3, focusing on upscaling remote sensing approaches to better understand and support flood safety. His work will help explore how these approaches can contribute to the restoration and resilience of intertidal areas through coastal rewilding.

We’re particularly excited to have his expertise on board as REWRITE works to better understand how natural coastal processes can support both ecosystems and communities.

And when he’s not working with estuaries and remote sensing? You’ll probably find Jesse out on his road or gravel bike, playing vinyl over a good coffee, or enjoying dinner with friends.

Welcome to the team, Jesse! We’re looking forward to having you on board and seeing where your research takes you
